AVATAQ is currently seeking a candidate for the following position: Accounting Clerk

Reporting to the Administration Department, the Accounting Clerk will perform the following tasks:

- Calculate, prepare and issue documents related to accounts such as bills, invoices, inventory reports, account statements and other financial statements using computerized and manual systems;

- Code, total, batch, enter in a ledger or a computer, and verify and reconcile transactions such as accounts payable and receivable, payroll, purchase orders, checks, invoices, requests for checks and bank statements;

- Compile budget data and documents based on estimated revenues and expenses, and previous budgets;

- Prepare statements, reports or periodic returns;

- Calculate the costs of materials and other expenses based on estimates, quotations and price lists;

- Respond to inquiries from customers, maintain good relations with customers and solve problems;

- Perform other related clerical duties, such as word processing, filing and record keeping, faxing and photocopying.

Job requirements:

- Vocational or collegial diploma in accounting;

- Good knowledge of computers, word processing, spreadsheet and Microsoft Dynamics software;

- Bilingualism is required. Knowledge of Inuktitut is an asset;

- Detail oriented and punctuality required.

Additional informations:

- Working schedule: Minimum of 21 hours/week, up to 35 hours;

- Permanent position with benefits after a three-month probation period;

- Salary: $21.00/hour;

AVATAQ is currently seeking a professional and dynamic candidate for the following position: Information Officer.

In collaboration with the Director of the Research, Archives and Documentation and the Head Archivist, the Information Officer will have the following responsibilities:

- Welcoming visitors who come to consult the Documentation Center (Inuit and non-Inuit);

- Reception and handling of historical photos reproductions;

- Reception of requests for information by phone or email;

- Evaluating the requests in term of priority and relevance;

- Handling the appointment schedule for consultation;

- Answering information requests by providing references to library documents, photos from the historical photos collection, oral history recordings and texts, and other archives and resources;

- Compiling lists of resources for specific subjects and developing other reference tools;

- Working on photo identification;

- Working on presentations about Inuit culture;

Other communication tasks for the Institute:

- Providing guided tours of the Westmount office and the Qarmaq for groups of visitors, especially for Inuit groups;

- Working in collaboration with other departments;

- Giving presentations about Avataq on occasions;

- Other tasks can be requested.

Jobrequirements:

- Post-secondary studies in documentation or Library studies is a definite asset;

- Three (3) years of experience in a similar job;

- Inuktitut spoken and written is an essential requirement;

- English and/or French is necessary;

- Advanced computer skills (Microsoft Office, FileMaker Pro);

- Other skills needed: precision and organization, punctuality, team worker;

- Proud to represent and transmit his/her Inuit identity and to represent Avataq according to the guidelines that will be provided;

- Able to deal with different kinds of visitors in a professional manner and able to speak in public;

AVATAQ is currently seeking a professional and dynamic candidate for the following position: Coordinator for Aumaaggiivik – Nunavik Arts Secretariat.

The Coordinator maintains activities of the Secretariat, contacts Nunavik artists, and manages the grant programs and promotional activities for Nunavik artists:

- Receive and evaluate the grant programs applications;

- Make sure the applications meet the grant programs requirements, and follow up on application and grant reports with artists;

- Support artists in applications and portfolio preparation;

- Writebiographies and document artists’ productions;

- Promote the Secretariat’s grant programs as well as programs from governmental organizations;

- Write press releases;

- Write articles and newsletters on artists and art in Nunavik;

- Manage and feed the Facebook page and any other social networks of Aumaaggiivik

- Develop new activities for Nunavik arts;

- Write requests for funding for the Secretariat’s projects;

- Make reports and budgets;

- Participatein juryorganization;

- Develop and consolidate with dynamism the network around Aumaaggiivik.

Jobrequirements:

- Degree in Management, Communication and/or Art, Art History or equivalent;

- Five (5) years of experience in program management or relevant domain;

- Experience in public relations and press;

- Knowledge of computers, word processing, spreadsheet and social networking;

- Cultural understanding of issues related to the Art domains (definition, training, practice, market & emerging trends) for the Nunavik;

- Experience in supervising staff, volunteers;

- Experience in Nordic environment is an asset;

- Bilingual English-French, knowledge of Inuktitut is an asset;

- Strong writing skills;

- Budget managementskills;

- Organizedanddetail oriented;

- Punctuality, autonomy and leadership;

- Willing to travelin Nunavikand elsewherefor staysthat can extendup to two weeks;

- Good communicational skills and team player.
