Board of Directors
At their biennial conferences, Nunavik Elders elect the president and members of the board of directors of Avataq Cultural Institute. The board is made up entirely of Inuit who reside in Nunavik.
Since the 2009 Nunavik Inuit Elders’ Conference, Avataq’s board of directors comprises the following individuals:

- Vice-President : Salamonie Alayco, Akulivik
- Secretary-Treasurer : Jeannie Nungak, Kangirsuk
- Member : Minnie Etidloie, Kangiqsujuaq
- Member : Isaacie Padlayat, Salluit
