More than 30 acrylic paintings by a group of six women were exhibited in the Inukjuak arena on August 18.
Eva Kasudluak, Sarah Lisa Kasudluak, Laina Nulukie and Mance Lanctôt, along with young artists Maina Maina Tukai and Judy Alaku, showed the people of Inukjuak the paintings they created this summer.
The women painted together every day in the weeks leading up to the show, as part of open painting workshops organized by artist in residence Mance Lanctôt. For most of the women, the workshops were their first experience with painting.
The Avataq Cultural Institute took a close interest in the show and is currently preparing a catalogue of the paintings, which should be published soon.
Pictures of the exhibition are available on Aumaaggiivik’s facebook page.
